Presentations review #2 Juan Garcia Spc. 1017 T/Th 8:25-9:40a.m. Ref.# 5773

To begin, I want to start by mentioning that I am part of group two and I say this because this group in my opinion is composed in its majority by good people. People who are responsible, flexible, nonproblematic and most importantly it is a group that has a good and fluid communication and I feel that this is the most important thing and this is the heart of the success we have had as a group ,as well as, the kind of people who make up our group. This was our second project as a group and honestly I have felt very satisfied with both outcomes and with the experience we have had as a group. To continue, my group which is group two did climate change and I was very happy to have had this topic assigned to me because I believe that climate change is what is going to determine if we survive or not as a species. Moreover, I really liked the videos that were presented to us in this climate change presentation because I felt that the videos were very interesting especially about such a complex topic like this one.  One of the videos I really liked was the one at the end of the presentation where it explains how diet helps in some way fight climate and what most shocked me about this video was that we can change our diets and help the earth and I did not know that nor had I ever contemplated that idea. Another part of this presentation I really liked was how climate change impacts ecosystems and wildlife and what I particularly liked about this section of the presentation was the explanation given on the impacts and the illustration of how climate change has and is impacting the coral reef ecosystem. The other illustration that also caught my eye was the one in the section of climate change impacting wildlife which was the picture of the polar bear before and after and how climate change has forced animals to change their diets and in many cases ending up in a fatal consequence. The fifteen minute long video was also great because it really explained in depth this topic. Lastly, I want to say that the part that most moved my inner fibers and reminded me that we are all humans was the speech given by the young women whose family and her person was severe affected by climate change in her own country back in Africa. Overall I really liked this presentation.

Furthermore, This presentation was on gender equality and I found the layout of this presentation to be very nice. This presentation I found very interesting because this a very controversial topic among people because todays society tends to discriminate in the work place between men, women, and lgbtq. I found this presentation to have covered many important points related to this topic. For example this presentation covers gender education inequality, workplace inequality, mental health in gender inequality, and more. A part I found particularly interesting to me was the gender neutral kid that was talking about how him/herself did identify with any of the two the genders. I found this to be interesting because I never thought about the problem that gender neutral people face when the want to go to a public bathroom because the don’t identify as male or female and the struggle this creates for this group of people. To continue, now being aware of this life long struggle this group of people that identify themselves and gender neutral have every day of their lives inspires me to be more aware and advocate for a permanent solution to this uncomfortable situation. Another part I would like to reflect on from this presentation is the gender roles and stereotypes section because I feel there is a misconception in society about the roles of male and females. I believe that the stereotypes placed and male and females are really in my opinion stupid. I believe this because both men and women are human and are capable of doing almost anything. Why can’t a father take a stroll with his baby in a stroller thru the park? Or why can’t a women be the head of a financially struggling household?  Or why does a woman have to follow certain beauty guidelines? The point I want to get to with these rhetorical questions is why should human made stereotypes limit the ability of a person based on his or her gender. Lastly, I found interesting the part of gender roles in the animal kingdom because it was something I did not know and how animals can change their behaviors or gender regardless of their gender I found that very interesting viewing it thru the scientific lens. I also had a fun time playing the kahoot.

To Conclude, I will be reflecting on the infrastructure presentation. This presentation on infrastructure was a very attractive topic for me because I like to learn about different countries and their systems, people, and way of doing things and I found this presentation to include because it touches upon various countries infrastructure. But to be more concise I am going to focus on the United States of America’s infrastructure. This presentation talks quite decently about the USA infrastructure and with what this presentation taught us about the USA infrastructure I find it very worrying because the united states does not stand in a great spot when it comes to this. This worrisome because infrastructure is key to country’s development. Let my give an example roads. Roads are very important because they are a countries arteries and veins the roads are what moves goods from different parts of the countries. They also are how goods are transported from and to ports. A part I found interesting was the part about infrastructure failures this is because it shows the importance not just to build infrastructure but it shows the importance of also maintaining it.
